Please tell me a little about yourself when you contact me. Imperfection Is Perfection I'm five-foot-five... Well, once upon a time. Now five-foot-four and shrinking, Which sounds much better in a rhyme. An English girl from Essex, With a cheeky grin and curl, Still feminine and hopeful, Still a slightly naughty girl. I've learnt a thing or two in life, Through laughter, tears and strife, And while I haven't got it sorted, I'd still quite like a wife... Only joking! A gentleman will do, With kindness, wit and banter, And perhaps a cheeky view. My motto's very simple, And it's served me to this day: Imperfection is perfection. That's my slightly wonky way. I know my strengths. I know my flaws. My best bits and my quirks. I've finally reached the age where I quite like how all that works. I love a proper conversation, A lunch that turns to tea, A drink that turns to dinner, And somebody who laughs with me. I'm not searching for a fairytale, Or diamonds by the ton. Just someone who's good company, And genuinely fun. A little bit of confidence, A little bit of charm, The sort who'll make me smile And not set off the alarm. I'll be around Rutland, Uppingham and Oakham too, Maybe Stamford, maybe Northampton, Depending upon you. I must confess I'm nervous, Just a little, not a lot, Though butterflies at my age Are apparently still a thing I've got. So if you fancy meeting, For a bite, a glass, a chat, You may discover I'm exactly As advertised — imagine that. We'll start with lunch quite sensibly, And see what fate has brought. After all... It's usually best to have the pork Before the stuffing's thought. An English country girl, now firmly in her fabulous fifties, living on the Essex borders and perfectly happy hopping on a train into London, Cambridge, or wherever a good adventure, good conversation, or good dinner happens to be waiting. I'm curvaceous rather than tiny. Comfortably real rather than filtered. Natural rather than manufactured. The years have given me laughter lines, stories, wisdom, and a healthy appreciation for elasticated waistbands after a good meal. I wouldn't swap any of them. I love singing, writing stories, gardening, people-watching, travelling, reading, learning new things and occasionally putting the world to rights over a long lunch. I can be equally happy wandering around a country garden, visiting a museum, watching a theatre show, exploring London, sitting in a country pub, or simply laughing over coffee and cake. I like people with curious minds. People who can talk about politics without starting a war. People who can discuss religion, faith, history, travel, books, current affairs, or whether aliens have already visited and decided not to come back. The older I get, the more I realise that good conversation is attractive. Kindness is attractive. Humour is attractive. Being comfortable in your own skin is attractive. I'm not looking for perfection. Goodness knows I haven't found that in the mirror. I'm looking for someone genuine. Someone kind. Someone who enjoys life. Someone who likes nice restaurants, country pubs, theatre trips, city days out, spontaneous adventures and the occasional dessert. And yes... If two people enjoy each other's company enough, perhaps there may be a little chemistry too. But I'd much rather start with a great conversation and a laugh than rush anywhere. Life's too short and too interesting for that.
